To all members who love space simulation games, would you like to participate in creating and 3D RTS genre ?
The aim of this game genre is to attrack space fans and also 'colportate' world wide what are PERMANENT projects and missions.
It would be awesome, for two reasons:
- For Sam a presentation of the PERMANENT website.
- 3D game art concept for a 3D RTS genre game where the main storyboard relies on two scenarios of choices, Asteroid industrial business conquest simulator or Lunar industrial business conquest simulator having in mind always the Space devlopment in the background. Who would from the two business would colonize Mars first ?
I am sure we will have a lot of fun :D
Lets share our thoughts.

Salut Phenix. Yes, this sounds like fun! I downloaded and played a game called Space Station Manager a few years back:

Maybe a simple online game where you can create your own crewed asteroid exploration and mining spacecraft written in Java would be achievable. Later, maybe a more advanced version could be developed where you have to create self-funding space infrastructure and economy e.g. single mission to a NEO to mine PGM in large quantities for terrestrial use, which then funds a second mission to an extinct NEC for water ice. Income streams then become sufficient to support a small lunar mining operation extracting titanium and aluminium for an SPS in high lunar orbit to sell beamed power back to Earth. (Purely for illustrative purposes, I haven't given any thought to whether that's a logical and realistic development path.)

Salut Sam,
I could not dream of a better approach for the game genre. The game you have mentionned is an excellent point of start and be Java based feature with real items would be a must have.
If the game industry would like to develop the idea and make business from an outstanding unexploited game approach, it is up to them to get on the tracks and use "real items" for "real simulation" on building business, space technologies, development strategies and space travel, etc...
To make the story short, all ingredients are to be "REAL" for an unrelated first time "App-killer" in the game field !

If anyone is interested to step in this type of game, you may likely want to know that Space Station Manager is open source and you may want to get in contact with Kai Backman at http://www.mistaril.com.
It could possibly also give to the author another ignition to revive his project and the oportunity to revisite the project in order to go web and Java based.
