I'm gathering information to build an info-graphic/ Spreadsheet/ whatever in a googledoc spreadsheet. The Goal is to express the viability of SPS based in figures that can be cited in an interactive manner. Or at least something data porn lovers can grasp. Anyone who wants to help, or just view email me and I'll share it with you in googledocs. This project is expected to take months if I do it by myself.

Googledocs spreadsheets are highly collaborative, because multiple people can edit simultaneously. If you don't want me or others knowing your gmail account it's easy enough to simply create a filter gmail account. If anyone has this concern I'll post a link.

Private message me, don't post any emails on the forum.

Frustrating for me. Since about the only way to show real costs at this time is to base the manufacture of said SPSs is for a Terra built Terra launched platform. Which is NOT the way to do it.

I wish I had hard figures to show an lunar plan for building SPSs from Luna. Taking into account theoretical launches, hardware, crew requirements over the course of 5 years or so. By 2020 start delivering 10GW SPSs. But it would be only an highly theoretical exercise.

Ahh, but i intend on using it partially as an illustration of the connection between SPS and Luna. I see launch costs as being the 2nd most important obstacle to any plan to utilize space resources, first being that people do not know the potential.

An info-graphic would help illustrate the point better than a paragraph ever could.

Are these too out-of-date?:

Those are good graphics, but info-graphics display hard numbers...

like this:

This project is gonna take some time in gathering information, the purpose is to show the benefits of SPS, and hopefully demonstrate the moon as an option to make SPS viable.

I suppose to make the chart you could guestimate some numbers. We know how much it would cost to build X on Earth and to launch X to GEO.

We could guestimate how costly it would be to develop system to do Y on Luna. And use X to launch system onto Luna and then build and launch Z from Luna to GEO.

In a nice infographic which highlights the two systems. Sometimes you need something to catch the eye and put it in terms that are easy to assimilate.

I'd like to help you with those estimates. Have you designed that lunar dozer yet? ;-)

Seriously, though, I'll crank my focus around to this project, and we will see what comes of it..

Would the 'dozer be multi-purpose? Would it be the one to chew up ice? We need to know if the consistency of the ice is fluffy like snow. Or hard ice. Might need good quality mining equipment if the ice is hard. Possibly similar to the continuous miner Joy Mining has. Unless we want to carve out blocks of ice from some ice-shelf in the shadowed craters.

But I am getting topic now. I will continue this over in the Lunar section.

It blows up to a rather large size, so I will only post the link
