The stuff that we are planning IS GOING to take longer than we want or think it should take. We ALL need to be aware of what has taken place in space travel plus what has happens when we hit road blocks like a launch failure.

I would recommend the following as required reading. We need to see where we have been to see where we are going.

http://www.braeunig.us/space/index.htm
http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/planetary/chronology.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_space_exploration

There will be set-backs. We need to understand the reallity.

"We always overestimate the change that will occur in the next two years and underestimate the change that will occur in the next ten." -Bill Gates

For space, the timeframe may be a little different... 5 VS 25 years, or 2 VS 10 decades, but I think the principle is the same. I think it will take time to get the ball rolling, but once it starts going it will surprise everyone. =)

Good quote, sgeos. Have you seen this thread (http://www.forumlog.com/nanobiotechnologyspace/showthread.php?t=370&)?
