An interesting thread on how to map an O'Neill cylinder. It isn't quite as easy as simply reversing the methods used to map a planet.

I wonder also how to go about making an O'Neill cylinder equivalent of a globe?

An O'neil sized space-station is a bit out of the scope of what PERMANENT is about. We are trying to make those first few steps necessary to show that space can be economically profitable.

However as to the thread. Ultimately, as others on that forum said, an O'neil cylinder is exactly that. A cylinder. Due to that I do not see the requirements to develop a new charting system. Unroll the inner surface of that cylinder and you have a rectangle. A rectangle map is even more fitting for an O'neil station than for a planetary body.
