Manned mission to asteroids:
We should have some sort of reentry unit shipped for the personnel Dragon looks like a basic reentry unit.
If it seems implausible to use ISRU for one of these deployable reentry units, then one will have to be shipped for the returning of precious metals/materials to sell.
Unmanned mission:
Ship a deployable reentry unit if it seems that a reentry unit cannot be made from ISRU.
Selection of the target asteroid will be vital as it could accelerate the program. If an asteroid that combines the best of metallic and stony asteroids it could be possible to fabricate a ceramic reentry shield. At the same time as hopefully developing AlLOx. All with ISRU.
Probes will be vital to pick the winner.
