The Falcon 9 (http://www.spacex.com/falcon9.php) Earth launch rocket developed by Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) is the leading candidate for furthering space exploration and development. It won the bid to meet NASA's cargo and crew transport needs between the retirement of the Space Shuttle in 2010 and the launch of the Ares/Orion cargo/crew combination in 2013. It's a traditional two-stage rocket propelled by a kerosene/liquid oxygen combination. The rocket is designed to work with the Dragon crew capsule (http://www.spacex.com/dragon.php).

I think this craft is our best bet for a manned asteroid recovery mission to date. They still have a ways to go for manned flight certification, but I think they're way ahead of everyone else.

SpaceX is still trying to get the Falcon 9 launched, but they hope to go by March. Now that the Constellation program has been discontinued, I am lighting a candle for Elon Musk and his people to succeed..

For sure. I hope the F9H is everything they want it to be. Can be a great way to get missions to NEAs and the moon.
