I'm still kind of hazy on why AI is a threat to human existence. Unless you count the Terminator series as a legitimate argument that an AI could determine humans to be a threat and then network with all the other AI's operating in the world.

All in all, I reckon that AI would be no more dangerous than normal intelligence.
