They have 5 launches under their belts, and they are one of the companies selected by NASA to supply the ISS. They also have a 7-person capsule under development that can be configured for missions up to 2 years' duration, according to their website.

S'oaky, I never get tired of watching these videos. I can't get over the whine the engines make right before they ignite. :-)

I can't find the reference for the starter chemicals. That green flash looks great, though :)

"A highly reliable and proven TEA-TEB pyrophoric system is used to provide multiple restart capability on the upper stage."

Found this under the Falcon 1 under the Kestral engine section. Not sure if that is applicable to the Merlin engines too.

The screaming flare is pretty cool though. You can see it for the F9 test too.

From the press release found here (http://www.spacex.com/press.php?page=20100607).

"The NASA COTS program has demonstrated the power of what can be accomplished when you combine private sector responsiveness and ingenuity with the guidance, support and insight of the US government. For less than the cost of the Ares I mobile service tower, SpaceX has developed all the flight hardware for the Falcon 9 orbital rocket, Dragon spacecraft, as well as three launch sites. SpaceX has been profitable for three consecutive years (2007 through 2009) and expects to remain modestly profitable for the foreseeable future. "

Ouch. Elon is mean ;) But I feel he is justified to say these words to the naysayers.

During the recent, July 27th and 28, Joint Propulsion Conference, SpaceX unveiled some future launch vehicles. Here is to hoping they can provide an HLV, and keep the launch costs down. :D
